“ If love is truly powerful and universal, then how does one excavate it from within oneself and how does one express it so that it is universally felt and understood? And with the anxiety I feel now, how is this articulated?
In this diptych, I use images that Malaysian would recognize: a nest of fire ants made of leaves; a orchid plant living on a coconut husk. Plants, which don’t have feelings, are manipulated either by man or animal to their own ends. A pair of human lovers looks at them and sees them as the shape of the human hearts. They see them as the sign of love. ”
