It will also provide us with the opportunity to acknowledge all major sponsors for their contribution to the Gala.

MAF has collaborated with Astro Awani, The Star, Malay Mail, and Malaysia Tatler in the past and our PR value has amounted up to RM3 million. We are thrilled to make partnerships, both new and old, to ensure the success of this event.

Prestige and Philanthrophy

The Malaysian AIDS Foundation has a long history of hosting the Red Ribbon Gala, which combines prestige and philanthropy on a memorable night.

Well–known as the event that attracts who’s who in Malaysian elite society, the Red Ribbon Gala is unforgettable due to its first – class entertainment, exclusive fashion, and unparalleled dining experience.

The inaugural Red Ribbon Gala in 1996 featured the first ever Donna Karan trunk fashion show in South East Asia. This is followed by the unveiling of the Chanel Fall/Winter Collection in 2000, a performance by the world-renowned Vienna Choir Boys in 2002, a special runway show by Malaysian-born international designer Bernard Chandran in 2006, the Elie Saab Autumn/Winter 2008-2009 Haute Couture Collection in 2008, and live performance by British superstar Leona Lewis in 2012. After a six – year hiatus, the Gala returned last year in 2018, renamed as Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Award Gala Dinner.

The primary aim of the Gala is to raise funds to enable Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) and its 46 Partner Organisations to respond effectively to the HIV crisis and be able to provide treatment, care, and support programmes. The Gala is an avenue for corporate entities and private individuals to give their support for this noble cause.

HOW YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL HELP US

Funds raised through the Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Award Gala Dinner will be used to sustain the following programmes:

MOTIVATE PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV TO GENERATE SUSTAINABLE INCOME

MAF encourages shelter homes under its support to embark on income-generating activities by providing small grants to Partner Organisations to scale up their projects. One of the projects currently funded by MAF is chilly processing by CAKNA, a halfway home for former injecting drug users (IDU) living with HIV. Besides driving additional source of income for the shelter home, this sustainability practice also serves as an important skill-building process for the residents to prepare them for their future life outside the shelter and facilitates their return to society.

PROTECT THE LIVES OF
CHILDREN LIVING
WITH HIV

Programme such as the Paediatric AIDS Fund (PAF) helps poor Malaysian children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS so that they are not deprived of a normal childhood. The scheme is devoted to meet the day-to-day needs of these children (from newborn until 12 years old) in the hope that their living standards do not decline dramatically despite the presence of AIDS in their households.

PREVENTION
AND
EDUCATION

Grants are given to MAF’s sister organisation, the Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) and its 46 Partner Organisations so that necessary prevention and educational activities can be conducted. These programmes include outreach work, workshop and forum which are primarily focused on key populations. Funds are also used to support and encourage the efforts of local media to educate the general public with accurate information about HIV and AIDS, and to reject AIDS – related stigma and discrimination.

ENDING DISCRIMINATION AGAINST PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV AT WORKPLACE

Our funds are channeled to support advocacy works that promotes the creation of enabling environment for employees and professionals living with HIV to thrive and succeed at the workplace. Working towards meeting this goal, MAF has initiated a set of policies and guidelines to normalize HIV/AIDS at the workplace through the formation of the Malaysian Business Consortium for HIV/ AIDS (MBCH).
